Our process
Manufacturing
Cotton spinning at our Arasur mill, from raw fibre to finished yarn.
Spinning is a sequence of careful steps, each one preparing the fibre for the next. Here is the journey cotton takes through a spinning mill.
-
01
Opening & cleaning
Compressed cotton bales are opened and the fibre is loosened and cleaned of seed fragments, dust and other impurities.
-
02
Carding
Fibres are separated and aligned into a thin web, then gathered into a continuous rope called a sliver.
-
03
Drawing
Several slivers are blended and drawn together to even out thickness and improve fibre alignment.
-
04
Roving & spinning
The sliver is drafted and twisted into the yarn count required - this is where strength and evenness are built in.
-
05
Winding
Yarn is wound onto cones, cleared of faults and packed ready for dispatch.
Quality checks
Yarn is checked through the process so that what leaves the mill is consistent.
Skilled people
Our team brings hands-on spinning experience to every shift.
Responsible operations
We aim to run safely and with care for the people and the neighbourhood around the mill.
